Hi everyone! Below is the content of the June Data Community Newsletter we sent out via email on June 10th. Let us know if you didn’t receive it, or if you have topics you’d like to see in future newsletters!

## June 2025 Data Community Newsletter

### Upcoming Programming

Do you work with PPMI data or investigate biomarkers in Parkinson’s disease? If so, we hope you’ll join us on **Wednesday, June 25th, 11:00am – 12:00pm (EDT)** for our next community webinar! We’ll hear from Dr. Tristan Glatard (@glatard), Scientific Director of the Krembil Centre for Neuroinformatics, as he discusses his project [**LivingPark**](https://github.com/LivingPark-MRI), an MJFF-supported open source software which enables users to directly pull PPMI data and conduct novel or replicative analyses within Jupyter notebooks. For more details, see [**this thread on Discourse**](https://rcop.michaeljfox.org/t/upcoming-webinar-june-2025-conducting-novel-and-replicative-analyses-of-ppmi-imaging-data-with-the-livingpark-tool/1006).

### Community Updates

- As we enter our third year, we’re excited to announce the [**2025-2026 cohort of community champions**](https://rcop.michaeljfox.org/t/introducing-the-2025-2026-community-champions/1043), who we refer to as Data Community Innovators (DCIs). These are members of our community who have stepped up their contribution to the community, have an array of research interests/expertise, and often help lead [**community task forces**](https://rcop.michaeljfox.org/t/mjff-community-task-forces/805).
- Last month we heard from Dr. George Roussos (@roussos) of Birkbeck College, University of London, as he presented his work on [**PDkit**](https://pdkit.github.io/), a Python-based open source data science toolkit which leverages wearables and mobile app data to support longitudinal investigations of disease mechanisms and progression. If you missed it, you can [**access the recorded version here**](https://rcop.michaeljfox.org/t/webinar-digital-phenotyping-with-pdkit-open-source-software-for-analysis-of-wearables-and-mobile-app-data/937/13) and [**join the discussion on Discourse**](https://rcop.michaeljfox.org/t/webinar-digital-phenotyping-with-pdkit-open-source-software-for-analysis-of-wearables-and-mobile-app-data/937/15)!

### Recent Conversations

- @danieltds shared [key insights uncovered while co-authoring a review article about the importance of diversity in Parkinson’s disease research](https://rcop.michaeljfox.org/t/the-importance-of-diversity-in-pd-research/1004).
- @abdulrehman.muhammad had [a question about the source of participants’ ethnicity and ancestry data](https://rcop.michaeljfox.org/t/ancestry-ethnicity-in-tier-1-genetic-data/1010) included in the Fox Insight Genetic Sub-study (FIGS), which @mattk and @hamptonl were able to clarify.
- @hirotaka shared [an introduction to the Alzheimer’s Disease Neuroimaging Initiative (ADNI)](https://rcop.michaeljfox.org/t/intro-to-adni-and-adnimerge-for-ad-pd-researchers/993), a useful resource for researchers conducting comparative studies with Parkinson’s disease data.

### Welcome New Members

In the last month we welcomed several new members from a range of labs and disciplines, [including several from the GP2 Trainee Network](https://rcop.michaeljfox.org/t/welcoming-gp2-trainee-network-members-to-the-community/1032/). We encourage you to reach out to our new members and extend a warm welcome to the community! Some of our new members include:

- @mariam_isayan (_Somnus Neurology Clinic_)
- @abdulrehman.muhammad (_Mayo Clinic_)
- @lucasf (_Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais_)
- @farzin.hajebrahimi (_New Jersey Institute of Technology_)
- @Pallavi.M (_NeuroRPM_)

That’s it for now – thanks for being members of our growing community. Please feel free to [reach out with any questions](mailto:researchcommunity@michaeljfox.org), we look forward to hearing from you! If you know of colleagues or other researchers who would be interested in joining, feel free to direct them [here to our forum](https://rcop.michaeljfox.org/) where they can set up an account.
