Adding your research interests to your Discourse profile

Hello @research_community,

In an effort to make it easier to find collaborators and understand the expertise or research interests of other community members, we have added a field on member profiles that can incorporate topics of interest.

We’re aiming to balance being thorough with not wanting to be overly specific (e.g., have too many tags so as not to be useful). That said, please reach out if you think there are others we should add.

These keywords will be visible on your profile for others in the community to view, and they will also be searchable (using the search function) and filterable (using the Community Directory).

All future users will be required to input this information at registration, but we would love for you, as current members, to please add your research interests to your profile. To do this:

  • Click on your profile icon in the top right toolbar
  • Scroll to the bottom of this menu and click on the person icon at the bottom
  • Then select “Preferences” (see image above)
  • After this, select ”Profile” from the horizontal menu bar
  • Finally, scroll down to “Research Interests” and choose from the multiselect list

Again, please let us know if you have any issues with this process or have additional tags you would like us to add. Thanks for helping us build a stronger network to tackle research questions together!
