June 2024 Roundup

Hello all! This Topic acts as a recap of some activity that occurred on Discourse over the month of June. If you’re new - the community management team will create these summaries each month to help you stay up to date with what’s happening in the community. To see roundups from previous months, click here.

One major addition we’d like to flag is that we have recently added the ability to include your research interests on your Discourse profile. We hope this makes it easier to identify collaborators and subject matter experts! Please take a minute to add tags to your own profile.

Welcoming New Members
Our community is continuing to grow! We’ve had 14 new members join in the last month and would love to hear from folks and make the community something that can serve its members well. We encourage new members to:

  • Post an introduction or sign up for a welcome call (provide your availability for one here), to connect with other new members and community champions

  • Fill out this survey so that we can learn how to better serve new members!

  • Introduce yourself by posting an introduction here! We’d love to learn more about you.

  • Reply to other DCoP members’ introductions to connect with other new members!

  • If you would like to invite others to join the DCoP, you may invite them to fill our this interest form.

Member Activities

  • It’s great to see what you have been publishing this quarter - if you have authored a paper or presented at a conference, let us know so that other DCoP members can see what you’re working on! If you’re looking for collaborators, this could be a great place to start.
  • We will be launching 4 new task forces in the coming weeks, so stay tuned to learn about their activities and how you can participate! You can check out the Discourse thread for last year’s Data Wrangling Guide Task Force here.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding the DCoP, feel free to write to gginnan@michaeljfox.org, we’d love to hear from you!
