I have been a fan of chatgpt since it came out, knowing its many shortcomings that we kinda sorta touched on under another topic: How can ChatGPT help the research?
Recently I met Claude! It’s been way better than ChatGPT so far for my coding adventures, but my coding is nothing too sophisticated, just some good ole’ linear models maybe some machine learning on R, that’s it. Claude’s been awesome so far for me, makes way less errors than ChatGPT and spits out more outputs (like tables, spreadsheet etc). Saves me a ton of time honestly… Does anyone else use any AI platforms??? Any favorites, recommendations??
I also had been using deepai for logo making and recently started poking around with google gemini for creating illustrations (not graphs). I’ve honestly been loving it so far! Both deepai and gemini do require a tooooooooon of edits and very specific prompts but it saves me so much time and brings in the creativity I completely lack. Any visualization platforms anyone likes that I could also check out??

You can try Freepik.com too. Allows you to choose between models and annotate images too.

Hi, I don’t use image generation tools, and to be fair I barely use LLMs, so my comments here might not be the best. In any case, the two usecases I use the most are coding and refining emails when I feel they are not there yet - for these ones, I’ve been preferring Claude all the way, though I must say recently Gemini has been getting very good on coding too!
They are a god-send for troubleshooting code or writing code for figures I never knew how too.
I primarily play with Chat, dabble with Claude (but seems like I should invest more time with them), and Notebook for class products (e.g. I upload a paper and it generate a 8 minute video on it - useful for introducing concepts and only uses the materials you designate).
But, I use these tools for word smithing, e.g. manuscript needs to loose 500 words. I never copy and paste, and read line-by-line to see the suggested edit. Usually it ends up giving me inspriation on how to restructure the sentence or paragraph to be more streamlined.
My advice: Be on the loop, not stuck in the loop

ooo i had not heard of Notebook! i’m gonna have to check it out, it sounds like it could be a good dissemination tool?
i used freepik to find some copyright free pics while creating other figures utilizing a bunch of different pics, but i never checked out the models actually! i’m gonna need to check it out again

This is exactly what I am thinking for the my contributions to the Data Modality Task Force (FYI:@hirotaka @jgottesman @gginnan - I will play with notebook to develop these videos for salient topics for the modules/vignettes).

In the image generator you have an option of toggling between models. The premium version allows access to all. But for free you have the auto option which mostly used. I feel best is to take nice illustrations then put them in powerpoint as these AI tools often are inaccurate at text. The Nanobanana is improving quite a bit though.
