Hello Everyone -- Fox Insight Microbiome sub study (healthy controls)

Dear Everyone,

I noticed that not all healthy control participants seem to have answered the Fox Insight questionnaires in the microbiome sub study. As I understand it, the majority of healthy controls were from data that 23andMe collected separately. I understand that individuals were prescreened to be age and sex, but I am wondering if it is possible to gain more information about the individuals specifically? I am trying to randomly select a group of healthy controls to match with a PD group.

Thank you so much!

Thanks for the message, @MYSchmidt!

Hi Minna,

The demographic/survey data are not available from all controls; however, the subset of controls that were used in Stagaman et al. (2024) are available on Fox DEN: Stagaman Survey Data (2024).

I’d refer to the Stagaman et al. (2024) publication for details on the controls. The Stagaman Survey Data (2024) may help with selecting a matching cohort.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any additional questions.

Thanks, @mattk! @MYSchmidt, one distinction I might make (and Matt can correct me if I’m misremembering) is that all of the health controls were recruited via 23andMe. This is because participants of the PD Microbiome sub-study–at least on the MJFF side–were primarily recruited from the pool of prior FIGS (Fox Insight Genetic Substudy, of which a subset of data is available under Tier 1 access as Genetic) participants, and FIGS’ eligibility criteria ruled out anyone without PD (though a few seem to have slipped through…).

@jgottesman this is correct!

Thank you so much Greg! That’s my mistake! Thank you for looking out!
