Star Wars Day - May the 4th be with you!

As a big Star Wars fan, I wanted to give a shoutout to any and all Star Wars lovers on the platform! May the 4th be with you all :milky_way: There are a couple Parkinson’s disease & Star Wars connections too. Jeremy Bulloch who played Boba Fett in the Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi movies passed away with Parkinson’s disease. Per google: “In May 2022, Bulloch’s family auctioned off a massive collection of his personal Star Wars memorabilia to honor him, with a substantial portion of the proceeds going to the charity Parkinson’s UK to help fund research and support for the condition.”
I think it is such a kind gesture for a family to honor their loved ones by helping others living with the same disease.

Marc Thorpe, who created special effects for Star Wars and Indiana Jones films died with Parkinson’s disease, he had early onset Parkinson’s.

Aaand a quick note about Harrison Ford too. I haven’t seen Shrinking but he’s playing a therapist with Parkinson’s on that show and people are noting that he’s doing a pretty good job with an accurate depiction of the disease. These shows really help raise awareness and fight the stigma in my opinion.

Thanks, for the post, @ecebayram! I’m a day late, but indeed am a Star Wars fan, so thought I’d add that another famed figure in Star Wars production, Ralph McQuarrie, also died with Parkinson’s disease. Ralph designed some iconic characters like Darth Vader, Chewbacca, C-3PO, and R2-D2, and also did some concept paintings for places like Tatooine and Mos Eisley.

And thanks for the reminder abour Harrison Ford in Shrinking, I need to check that out, too! Completely agree that certain series / episodes can have real power in destigmatizing PD. To that end, highly recommend the Curb Your Enthusiasm episode featuring Michael J. Fox (Season 8, Episode 10 - “Larry vs. Michael J. Fox”).
