End of Year Reflections - Data Community of Practice

Happy Holidays @DCoP_Innovators! We’re incredibly thankful for all of the work you’ve put into making the Data Community of Practice a success this year. Thanks to your time and dedication, the group is in a great place to welcome new members in 2024!

Looking back, what are the most memorable parts of the past year (whether related to the DCoP or not)? What have you appreciated and/or accomplished?

Looking ahead, what are you most excited for in 2024 (again, DCoP related or not)? What are you hoping to accomplish?

In this pictures I could summarize 2023 and my future hopes:

Picture 1: Daniel, Paula and I in the DcoP meeting in New York. I felt I was living a dream. And it last more that the days we where in NY.

Picture 2: Being part of GP2, growing with Gp2 and increasing the network, bringing valuable people to this huge endeavour of bridging the gap on PD, and making a South to South collaboration with @paularp and @danieltds within this network and others. In this Gp2 Booth in Copenhagen, I got to spend such a good time with old friends, and have the opportunity to engage with new people interested in research.

Picture 3: The publication of our systematic review was a huge step in my carrer, I experienced so many difficulties, but struggled till the end with the support of great people. It was the material realization that the impossible had become possible. (For more details, is worth a conversation more than a post)

Picture 4: Holiday celebration with the NIH CARD team, where I am doing my sabbatical. I hope that with this great lab I could analyze and finish my phD and new opportunities will come for the next stage of my carrer.

So happy to see this, Paula! Such a wonderful summary + photos that show the incredible work and achievements you’ve made this year. Very impressive. Can’t wait to see what you do next year

Paula, loved your reply and I agree with you! Really, this year was also a blast for me! I see I’m surrounded by great people like you and the other ones also present in this community. Going to NY to participate in our meeting was one of the best things that happened to me in this year. For me, this community itself is already serving its purpose as I’ve learned at lot from being here!

Also, joining these colllaborative networks such as the DCoP, LARGE-PD and GP2 and getting to know and work with other people from all around the world was also marvelous!

The publication of our article (the most relevant one I’ve participated to date) also taught me that we are also capable of producing good quality scientific evidence, thus boosting my confidence in my work!

Thank you all for the opportunities and thank you @psaffie for the friendship!
