Hello! I often get confused with my passwords because different websites require complex password structures. As a result, I always need to remember them, especially when the password length and symbol requirements are usually higher and different from what I’m used to.
I frequently find myself needing to reset my password because I either don’t remember it or can’t recall where I’ve stored it. Therefore, I would like to suggest a revision to the password structure requirements for our Discourse forum. Currently, I believe it requires numbers, letters, a minimum of 10 characters, and at least one special symbol (please correct me if I’m wrong).
I propose that the minimum password length be reduced to 6 characters, with a requirement for both numbers and letters, but without the need for a special symbol. This may seem like a minor issue, but it can sometimes bother me and make me less inclined to use a platform, especially when I don’t use it frequently. My concern is not just for myself, as I can obviously get used to my own password since I’ll be using it often. This suggestion is primarily for the broader audience, as infrequent users may be discouraged from using Discourse due to the current password requirements.
Furthermore, I’m unsure if this is feasible, but I wanted to offer my suggestion nonetheless.
