NACC June 10 Webinar on Alpha-Synuclein Pathology in Parkinson’s Disease

I just got this email for an upcoming NACC webinar and wanted to share if anyone’s interested! It’s open to all researchers I believe, and these are always good sources to get to know more about the NACC data:

Neuropathological stages of neuronal, astrocytic, and oligodendrocytic alpha-synuclein pathology in Parkinson’s disease

Date: Wednesday, June 10, 2026
Time: 12:00 - 1:00 pm ET / 9:00 - 10:00 am PT

About this Webinar:

Alpha-synucleinopathies are neurodegenerative diseases characterized by the spread of alpha-synuclein (α-syn) aggregates throughout the central nervous system in a stereotypical manner. Parkinson’s disease (PD) and multiple system atrophy (MSA) primarily involve α-syn aggregates in neurons and oligodendrocytes, respectively, though glial α-syn pathology in PD is increasingly being recognized.

In this webinar, attendees will learn how machine learning-based quantification and Subtype and Stage Inference (SuStaIn) modeling were used to evaluate neuronal, oligodendrocytic, and astrocytic α-syn pathology in PD. Findings revealed extensive glial α-syn pathology and identified distinct progression patterns, supporting a novel multimodal framework that integrates the temporal and spatial progression of astrocytic and oligodendrocytic pathology alongside neuronal pathology in PD.

This webinar is part of our Digital Pathology Webinar Series and is co-organized by Dr. Kurt Farrell of Mount Sinai ADRC and the Digital Pathology Working Group.
