Parkinson's Disease Genetic Concepts

I’m trying a new format to explore key questions in Parkinson’s disease (PD) genetics. Let’s start with a basic question:

Is Parkinson’s Disease a Genetic Disorder?
  • Yes
  • No
0 voters

Now, let’s take it a step further:

Would this be a good opening question for a PD genetics presentation?
  • Yes
  • No
0 voters

If you answered “No,” I’d love to hear your reasoning!

I’m looking to engage this interdisciplinary Data Community Innovators and @researchcommunity to share their perspectives. What would a movement disorders specialist say, like @Vidash? A data expert like @mike / @hamptonl Or a geneticist like @joanne.trinh ?

This image represents my approach to starting discussions—both formal and informal—on PD genetics.

How do you introduce this topic in your field? Would you frame it differently?
Feel free to thoroughly dissect this image—your feedback is invaluable. The more comments, the better!

I have answered yes, but with a great degree of uncertainty haha. It is a good thought provoking question and limiting answers only to “Yes” and “No” can, for sure, foster discussion. So yes, answering your question, I think this is a good way to introduce the topic.

But if I responded “No” to this, of course I’d utilize the arguments presented in Parkinson's Disease Is Predominantly an Environmental Disease - PubMed. However, someone could also answer me using the arguments present in Parkinson's Disease is Predominantly a Genetic Disease - PubMed. Jokes aside, your post made me think about those two articles, and I think that you should take a look at them for insights and inspirations for your own writing!

Regarding you image, it looks neat, clean and clear. Good job with that!
