Tell us Your Questions - Data Licensing Training

We are so excited for the Creative Commons workshop on data licensing, copyright, and crediting best practices that we’ll be hosting on Monday, 22 April at 11am ET! Be sure to indicate whether you’d like a calendar invite to the workshop.

We’d love to know if you have any questions for Shanna, who will be leading the workshop for us. Please reply to this Topic with any questions that you’d like us to address during the workshop.

Here is the training description:

In the ever-evolving digital landscape, the management of research outputs, including data licensing and copyright, is increasingly important. This 1.5-hour workshop will provide a forum for participants to learn more about open licensing and copyright.

By the end of the workshop, participants will have an understanding of the basic principles of copyright, how it works, and where it applies. Participants will be able to describe the benefits of open licensing, and have a deeper understanding of how research outputs interact with copyright and open licensing.

Are there any emerging trends or developments in copyright law or open licensing that researchers should be aware of?

Maybe this question io inadecuate, but why is so expensive to publish open science, specially if you are a PhD student.

I second this question from Paula. Why Open Science publishing is so expensive?

Thanks to everyone who has shared questions so far, both as a reply to this topic and on the scheduling topic.

We’d love to hear what questions you have, even if you’re unable to attend the training this coming Monday, 22 April at 11am Eastern Time. We’ll be sure to record the meeting if you can’t attend, but here is the Zoom link if you can: Launch Meeting - Zoom

Hope to see you there!

@maya.sanghvi thank you for organizing this training.

It was very informative and I now have a much better understanding of Creative Commons licensing and copyrighting. I wish I had this training sooner!

Haha thank you Matt! So glad you got a lot out of the training. We will be sure to post the recording and slides (under CC-BY?!) to Discourse so others can review if they have questions.
