One of the things we’ve heard from community members is that a challenge to collaborative science is credit sharing - how to allocate credit appropriately in a multi-collaborator project? If you have made your data publicly accessible, how do you ensure that you get credit in future publications?
We’re curious how you’ve seen these challenges addressed in practice - for authorship of outputs and also specifically for datasets? E.g., at CSCCE we use the CRediT system for collaboratively authored resources - which enables us to make distinctions between the different roles on a project (author, reviewer, supervisor etc). For your collaborative projects, how do you appropriately acknowledge different people’s contributions? Can you share any best practices for recognizing involvement?
