Hey all,
@psaffie and I are seeking your help with helping us identify online resources that fit under the broad category of training as part of the Mentorship and Training Task Force (@danieltds , @paularp , @peixott , @Vidash , @malosco ). These could be YouTube videos that you have found helpful, Coursera course you recommend, training modules available through other networks, etc.
Please add whatever doc you have to this folder or hyperlink to the spreadsheet: training
Thanks,
F

Yes, that sounds great! I think it would be really helpful for us to kick off our Mentorship and Training Task Force by gathering any material you’ve found useful or that you currently use. I believe @paularp or @malosco may have mentioned something similar?
We’d appreciate any feedback you have. Additionally, if anyone is having trouble finding resources on certain topics, feel free to post about it here. That would also help guide our Task Force’s efforts.
I’ve recently pasted some from GP2 and MDS website in the link training @fbbriggs shared
Hello Farren! I confess I don’t know of other useful materials to include there. Most of the materials I know of are already there.

MDS has the leadership training courses too. @psaffie & i chatted about the LEAP a bit, and while it’s a great program it’s very limited numbers of peeps they include so it’s not really the most achievable thing for all. which is absolutely fine, they put together the resources they share in the program also in the MDS courses, so you can check out the fundamentals. the heart of the LEAP is the mentor pairing of course, and that is also going to depend on the person. you may already have a great mentoring team (team is important, don’t settle for one mentor, get yourself a team so you can have multiple opinions and fields covered) and not necessarily need MDS to get you another one. or you may not have any mentors and need some, in that case you can always build your own connections too. a good mentoring relationship starts with agreeing on expectations, and a lot of the times early on in the careers you have no clue what to expect from a mentor. so you may need someone with more time on their plates to help set up expectations together with you. sometimes you need someone senior and more experienced in the field, sometimes you need someone junior and has more time and energy to dedicate to you. don’t undermine the power of peer mentoring as well, you learn from the struggles of someone going through the same things as you at the same time. if you feel like you want more structured training on advancing your career and mentorship, groups like AAN, Clin-STAR, GSA (Gerontological Society of America), SEQUINS, AAIC ISTAART also have neat opportunities for training and experience that I absolutely benefited from. check out your local organizations for any mentoring options too, sometimes they also put together local programs to help early career folks grow.
