I’m Amgad Droby, a senior research scientist at the Neurology Department of Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center and an assistant professor at Tel Aviv University. My journey in neuroscience began with a B.A. in Psychology and Political Science, followed by a Master’s in Neural and Behavioral Neuroscience. I earned my Ph.D. in Translational Neuroscience, focusing on understanding brain changes related to neurodegenerative diseases.
Currently, I’m diving deep into the structural and functional brain changes that occur in healthy individuals carrying genetic mutations linked to Parkinson’s disease. My work involves using advanced imaging techniques, like MRI, to explore how the brain adapts and compensates for potential damage. I’m particularly interested in how these mechanisms can delay the onset of symptoms in those at risk.
Throughout my career, I’ve been fortunate to lead and contribute to various research projects, including a significant study on multiple sclerosis in African Americans. I love collaborating with others in the field and sharing insights that can lead to better treatments and interventions. When I’m not immersed in research, I enjoy engaging with the scientific community and sharing knowledge to help advance our understanding of these complex diseases.
