Ideas for Future Community AMAs (Ask Me Anything's): Clinical Data? DNA Extraction? Phenotype Correlations?

Hi everyone!

As we continue to design and schedule community programming for the DCoP, we’re planning additional Community AMAs (Ask Me Anythings). AMAs can be a great way to connect with domain experts, receive answers to questions of interest that can help you now, and enable future researchers to benefit from newly discoverable knowledge on-platform.

Last fall, we heard from Boston University’s Dr. Michael Alsoco (@malosco ) as he answered questions around how neuropsychology is used to investigate cognitive decline in neurodegenerative diseases. You can check out that AMA thread here!

As we plan additional AMAs, we would like to hear from you! What would you like to ask a research expert about? Is there a concept or methodology in Parkinson’s or other neurodegenerative disease research that still confuses you? Are you running into issues with a particular data set (or constellation of data sets) in your work?

For our next AMA in April, which will be hosted by Dr. Paula Saffie Awad (@psaffie) of Clinica Santa María, we are considering the following topics:

  • Understanding clinical data to avoid wrongful association
  • DNA extraction to support effective data analysis
  • Phenotype to genotype correlations in PD genetics

We’d love to know what the community would like to hear about, so that we can continue to leverage the significant expertise and experience already residing within the DCoP! Please don’t hesitate to leave your comments or suggestions below.
