Hello all! Leslie from MJFF here, excited to see our new community users joining! I can’t wait to see how everyone supports each other to help get the collective knowledge of the community out of our individual brains and down on digital paper.
I joined MJFF about 2.5 years ago. Much of what I do focuses on reusability of the data that comes from the work we fund - there’s nothing I hate more than seeing someone reinvent the wheel when they could have reused something amazing that already exists. Making datasets reusable is hard work, but so worth it.
I am a recovering forensic accountant; I spent 15 years as a fraud investigator and running centers of excellent for data science in accounting firms. It’s nice to work with a community where errors in data are honest mistakes and not malicious. My doctorate is focused on ethical decision-making and psychometrics, so I have a soft spot for survey data, which can be rare in this world. I live in the New York City suburbs; when I’m not working, you’ll find me in my workshop making chainmail and crocheting.
