Hello, community members!
In an effort to leverage your expertise and provide value back to the broader Parkinson’s research community, we are currently hosting four member-led task forces centered around the following themes:
- Data modality and methodology documentation
- Mentorship and training
- Visual resource generation
- Networking and outreach
These four task forces follow the model of our community’s first task force, the Data Wrangling Guide Task Force. This group published guidance for those getting started with Parkinson’s data, including best practices and practical tips regarding particular datasets like PPMI, GP2, Fox Insight, and AMP PD. You can access the guide here.
To highlight the important work our task forces do, as well as to make it easier for community members to engage with them, we have created a Task Forces tab on our Discourse homepage. There you will find links to all past and present task forces, as well as information on how to suggest the creation of a new task force. Within the task forces tab you can also find our Task Force Guidelines, which outline expectations for both task force members and leads (as well as the support MJFF provides to enable their efforts).
If you are interested in joining an existing task force, please contact that task force’s lead(s), or respond within the appropriate task force thread (linked above). If you are interested in proposing a new task force, please fill out this form.
We’re excited about the work we will achieve together through these dedicated groups, and look forward to hearing your thoughts on current and future work! Please feel free to give feedback by reaching out either to @gginnan (Community Manager) or @jgottesman (Community Director), or send us an email at researchcommunity@michaeljfox.org.
