MJFF Community Task Forces
We’ve been working to engage the broader community in projects that meet our shared goals of making it easier to work with PD data. Below, you can find information about our task forces (past and present), which were created to both address community needs as well as produce resources for the PD research community at large. Additional information on how to propose your own task force is included at the end of this post.
Current Task Forces (2024-2025)
After surveying the interests and needs of our community members, we have established four new task forces this year with the following themes:
- Data Modalities and Methodologies
- Co-leads: @hirotaka, @ehutchins
- Developing Visual Resources
- Lead: @vdardov
- Mentorship and Training
- Networking and Outreach
The breadth, quality, and success of these projects depends on your participation and expertise. We hope they will provide both the opportunity to contribute (e.g., in developing a visual resource) and to benefit (e.g., to receive mentorship opportunities) from being a member of this community.
Previous Task Forces (2023-2024)
Last year’s Data Wrangling Guide Task Force went to work to synthesize and integrate best practices and practical information for those approaching the complex Parkinson’s disease data landscape. The task force’s efforts resulted in the generation of the Getting Started with PD Data guide, intended as a primer for researchers accessing and using various datasets such as Fox Insight, PPMI, GP2, and AMP-PD.
Get involved!
If you are interested in joining a task force, please post a reply in the relevant thread(s) above. If you’re on the fence or have questions, we would encourage you to join a call or reach out to a task force lead, @gginnan, or @jgottesman with any questions. If you have suggestions for collaborators who you think would be a good fit for a task force that is currently ongoing, please send them our way! You can learn more about our task forces by checking out the Task Force Guidelines (1.1 MB).
Create your own task force
We are always interested in supporting community-led efforts. If there is another task force you are interested in leading or assessing community interest in, please let us know by reaching out to @gginnan or by completing the programming suggestion form.
