June 2025 Data Community Newsletter

Upcoming Programming

Do you work with PPMI data or investigate biomarkers in Parkinson’s disease? If so, we hope you’ll join us on Wednesday, June 25th, 11:00am – 12:00pm (EDT) for our next community webinar! We’ll hear from Dr. Tristan Glatard (@glatard), Scientific Director of the Krembil Centre for Neuroinformatics, as he discusses his project LivingPark, an MJFF-supported open source software which enables users to directly pull PPMI data and conduct novel or replicative analyses within Jupyter notebooks. For more details, see this thread on Discourse.

Community Updates

  • As we enter our third year, we’re excited to announce the 2025-2026 cohort of community champions, who we refer to as Data Community Innovators (DCIs). These are members of our community who have stepped up their contribution to the community, have an array of research interests/expertise, and often help lead community task forces.
  • Last month we heard from Dr. George Roussos (@roussos) of Birkbeck College, University of London, as he presented his work on PDkit, a Python-based open source data science toolkit which leverages wearables and mobile app data to support longitudinal investigations of disease mechanisms and progression. If you missed it, you can access the recorded version here and join the discussion on Discourse!

I would like to thank you for these monthly posts. I think they are indeed providing a very nice summary of the most important activities that are happening in the forum as of late. Good job on those!
