Networking Event at Movement Disorders Society Meeting

Hello everyone,

We are gauging interest in holding a networking event at the upcoming International Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders Society (MDS) meeting on Saturday, September 28 in Philadelphia, PA, USA.

Event Details:

  • Date: Saturday, September 28
  • Format: Community Presentation and Networking

Agenda:

  • Data Community Leads Presentation (15 minutes): Speakers from MJFF’s data community of practice will provide community background, goals for the coming year, and discuss upcoming projects.

  • Mingling/Collaboration Discussion: Following the presentation, there will be an hour dedicated to networking, collaboration discussions, and idea sharing.

As we work to undertake projects together online that make it easier to conduct research and tackle shared challenges associated with using PD data, we’re excited by the opportunity to form in-person connections when we can.

This community-sponsored event is aiming to foster new connections, spark collaborations, and to create a supportive environment for researchers interested in making it easier to conduct research using Parkinson’s disease data. Whether you are a preexisting community member or simply interested in joining like-minded colleagues, we hope this will provide an opportunity to learn from others and expand your collaborative network.

In addition, it will also be highlighting the community member-led task forces that are beginning activities for the 2024-2025 program year. Finally, it will also be providing the opportunity for recruiting additional researchers attending MDS to join in these efforts (drawing from both current and potential community members), and for task force members to discuss their work in-person.

How to Participate:

  • If you are interested in attending, please indicate your interest by replying to this post.
  • If you have other colleagues who will be attending MDS and you think would be interested in joining our community, you may nominate them below

We need to determine headcount by August 19, 2024 to understand how many new colleagues we can invite on a rolling basis at the conference itself. We look forward to seeing many of you at the event and are excited about the potential collaborations and discussions that will arise from this gathering.

Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or need further information.

Best regards,

Gian Pal and Vida Obese

Hi! I’m attending MDS and I will have to check the time you propose as I have another appointment for the MDS Peer Review Program the same day, but if these events do not clash I’d love to attend! Hopefully with a lab-technician friend.

Hey everybody,

after working with sponsored data for more than two years, I just learned today at the MDS about this amazing new plattform of the MJFF and the event! Are there still some last-minute seats left? Than I (as a data scientist) and my collaborating MD would love to be part of it.

Best regards,
Christopher
