Depending on how you’ve configured your notification settings, you are likely getting email notifications when someone mentions you or a group you’re a part of, replies to a Topic you’ve posted on, or sends you a direct message.
If you find yourself inundated with emails or are missing Discourse posts because you haven’t received an email, you can change these settings! Navigate to your account dashboard and follow the directions below:
Click on the “Emails” tab to set up the frequency with which you are contacted in the following scenarios:
- When you are sent a personal message
- When you are quoted, replied to, your @username is mentioned, or when there is new activity in your watched categories, tags or topics
If you navigate to the the “Notifications” tab you can create a customized notification schedule. To do this:
- Click on the “Enable custom notification schedule” checkbox, and a weekly calendar will appear. Here, you can decide which hours of the day you want to receive notifications in 30 minute increments. You can use this function to only get notified during your working hours, or when you are available.
